I grew up on a church stage and spent 25 years as an ordained worship pastor, in churches of 100 to more than 6,000. To me, worship was never a show. It's a church family meeting with God, and everything else serves that.
My heart is the local church: the weekly rhythm of Sundays, the teams who show up, the people in the seats. I've led everyone from seasoned pros to first-time volunteers, and along the way I've even led worship at national events in Washington, D.C., on stages shared with a president and governors. Whatever the room, the goal was the same: help people worship.
Available for Supply Sundays
When your worship leader is out for vacation, a sabbatical, an illness or a stretch between hires, I can step in and lead.
I'll work with the team you already have, choir or band, leading from piano, guitar or vocals, by ear or from charts. Your congregation gets a calm, familiar Sunday while your leader is away.
Ask about a supply Sunday
As a musician
- Vocalist and multi-instrumentalist. Professional level, whether I'm leading from the front or covering a gap in the band.
- By ear or by the page. I play by ear, sight-read, and arrange on the fly when Sunday changes on Saturday night.
- Choir and orchestra. 100-voice choirs, large orchestras, and orchestrations I wrote myself.
- Every style. Traditional, contemporary, blended and modern, often in the same week, and I planned every service start to finish.
As a leader
- Large churches. Double-digit paid staff, pastoral leadership teams and multi-million-dollar budgets.
- Building and growth. I helped a growing church move into a new worship center, from planning table to first Sunday.
- Tech and production. Million-dollar audio and video packages, broadcast and streaming, and the crews who run them.
- Steady through change. When one church went a year without a senior pastor, I helped carry the pastoral load until the next one arrived.
- Raising up people. Hiring staff, recruiting and training volunteers, and mentoring young leaders who now lead on their own.
How I can help your church
Whether you run 50 or 5,000, I'll meet you where you are.
- A sounding board for pastors. Someone who's been in the room to think through worship, staff or a tough season with you.
- Coaching your worship leader. Mentoring a young leader, or sharpening a seasoned one.
- Building your teams. Recruiting, scheduling and training singers, players and tech volunteers.
- Better Sundays. Service design, song flow and style transitions that keep every generation together.
- Tech, staging and lighting. What to buy, what to skip, and how to run it well.
- Transitions. Covering the gap between worship pastors and helping you get ready for the search.
Let's talk. The first conversation is on me.
